Florida's Governor, Cabinet, and U.S. Senate delegation

In brief

Florida's executive branch is led by the Governor and a three-member elected Cabinet (Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture). The state is represented in the U.S. Senate by two members. Several offices changed hands through 2025 appointments.

Three of the current statewide officers took office by appointment in 2025.

Statewide executive & Cabinet
Governor of Florida

Governor of Florida since January 2019. Re-elected in 2022 and term-limited from running again in 2026.

4-year term; limited to two consecutive terms.

Lieutenant Governor of Florida

Appointed Lieutenant Governor in August 2025, succeeding Jeanette Nuñez. Previously served as state senator for District 14.

Elected on a ticket with the Governor; 4-year term.

Attorney General of Florida

Florida's 39th Attorney General, appointed February 2025 to succeed Ashley Moody. Former chief of staff to Gov. DeSantis. Serving until the 2026 election.

Elected member of the Florida Cabinet; 4-year term.

Chief Financial Officer of Florida

Appointed Chief Financial Officer in July 2025 to succeed Jimmy Patronis, who resigned to run for U.S. House. Serving until the 2026 election.

Elected member of the Florida Cabinet; 4-year term.

Commissioner of Agriculture

Elected Commissioner of Agriculture in 2022. Previously served as President of the Florida Senate (2020–2022).

U.S. Senate (Florida)
U.S. Senator — Florida (Class 1)

U.S. Senator since January 2019; re-elected to a second term in November 2024. Former Governor of Florida (2011–2019).

6-year term; next election in 2030.

U.S. Senator — Florida (Class 3)

Appointed to the U.S. Senate in January 2025 to fill the seat vacated by Marco Rubio, who resigned to become U.S. Secretary of State (confirmed 99–0). Previously Florida Attorney General. A special election for the remaining term is set for November 2026.

Currently held by appointment; special election in November 2026 for the remaining term.
